Nigeria arrests Biafra separatist leader

Nnamdi Kanu, a leader of the indigenous people of the Biafra has been arrested.

These indigenous people form a political group that has been prohibited as one of terrorism in Nigeria. The group has been blamed for intentionally and maliciously setting fire on buildings, vehicles and other properties and also killings of the police and authorities across Southern Nigeria.

Initially Nnamdi Kanu was arrested for terrorism offences back in 2015 and he was then offered bail in 2017 for medical reasons where then fled the country. Nigeria’s attorney general, Abubakar Malami “He has been brought back to Nigeria in order to continue facing trial after disappearing while on bail.”

Malami said he was handed over to the Capital city, Abuja and was presented before the high court infront of 11 judges, Kanu’s lawyer then confirmed his arrest.
