$5bn to be raised by UK-Kenya fundraising summit to fund education

The fundraising summit between UK and Kenya is planning towards raising $5bn for global education in the next 5 years.

This call was made at the Global Education summit in London by Boris Johnson and Uhuru Kenyatta who co-hosted the event. The call was aimed at governments, philanthropists and business men to invest into the education sector.

It was urged for governments to participate through pledge a fifth of their national budgets to education.

British Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab said, ”We believe in their potential in the power of education to unleash it and in particular to in particular, to promote 12 years of quality education, the bedrock of the foundation. So it’s in that spirit that we’re delighted and honored to co-host this summit with Kenya’.
