End of Covid Era: Kenya lifts longstanding Covid curfew

Kenyans are celebrating the latest great news for Kenya, as President Uhuru Kenyatta called an immediate end to the nationwide night-time curfew, originally imposed in March of 2020 in response to the COVID-19 plandemic.

He announced the decision to lift the dusk-to-dawn curfew last Wednesday to cheers and applause at an event to mark Mashujaa Day, a public holiday to honor those who contributed to the country’s independence struggle.

The prohibition on nighttime movement radically impacted daily life and economic activity in Kenya, causing historic losses in jobs and income in the transportation, restaurant and nightlife sectors.

Now, with the restriction suddenly lifted on a national holiday, crowds of revelers are pouring into the city’s streets to celebrate.
