S.A health dept and SAHPRA taken to court by ACDP to stop child vaccination

In a bid to stop the vaccination of children against COVID-19, the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP), partners with three other stakeholders, to take the health department and the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) to court

The ACDP is joined in their application by the Caring Healthcare Workers Coalition (CHC), Free the Children – Save the Nation and the COVID Care Alliance. Bongani Luthuli, the ACDP Counsel, said there is no tangible evidence to suggest that children are more vulnerable to COVID-19.

The health department extended the country’s vaccination program to children between 12 and 17 in October. There was uproar when Minister of Health Joe Phaahla said kids who want the jab would not need parental consent.

The Children’s Act says that children aged 12 and older can make their own decisions about medical treatment. However, this has caused an uproar amongst parents.
