New SA study adds to evidence that Covid-19 may cause psychosis, even in people who have no history

Researchers at the University of the Witswaterand scoured into the neuropsychiatric outcomes of Covid-19 according the new study published in the South African Medical Journal.

These outcomes can include headaches, anosmia which is a loss of smell, seizures, an affected mental status and psychiatric disorders, also a new-onset psychosis in patients who had no personal or family psychiatric history.

An excerpt from the study published in the South African Medical Journal said, “Neuropsychiatric manifestations of Covid-19 have been reported in countries around the world, including new-onset psychosis in patients with no personal or family psychiatric history.”
