South Africa: PSA Welcomes Mkhwebane’s Suspension

In South Africa, Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane is not giving up her fight to stay in office. She has stated that she will appeal President Cyril Ramaphosa’s decision to suspend her. She is also upset that the president acted before today’s decision by the Western Cape High Court on whether Ramaphosa had the right to suspend her.

Meanwhile, the Public Servants Association of South Africa (PSA) stated that it completely backed the suspension, as LN24 SA Innocent Semosa reports PSA claimed that Mkhwebane’s actions did not help raise the prestige of her office, but rather created unnecessary controversy and reputational damage.
