Putin warns Ukraine conflict can get more serious

Russian President Vladimir Putin appeared to change his rhetoric regarding the war in Ukraine just hours after telling Indian Prime Minister that they would do “everything” to stop the fighting as soon as possible, he told reporters the situation could get more serious.

Putin added that Ukraine’s leadership has refused talks and wanted to “reach their goals militarily.” However, a few hours later in front of journalists, Putin spoke about Ukraine’s recent counter-offensive operation, warning what could happen if Russia’s troops were put under further pressure.

He also said that Russia was gradually taking control of new areas of Ukraine and there were no plans to change what he has called a “special military operation.”
