Senegalese MPs sentenced to prison for assault & battery

Two Senegalese were sentenced to six months in jail for assaulting a pregnant colleague during a brawl in parliament.

The two men, Massata Samb and Amadou Niang were also ordered by the court to pay 5 million CFA in compensation to Amy Ndiaye of the ruling Benno Bokk Yakaar coalition.

The brawl, which broke out on the 1st of December, was broadcast all across the nation on various media outlets. Despite footage of the attack being broadcast around the country, the two men denied the charges of assault and battery and would appeal the ruling.
