South African judge on Zuma’s corruption case recuses himself

An announcement was moda on Monday by the judge in the corruption trial of former South African President Jacob Zuma at a hearing that he would recuse himself from the case, risking the case going back to court.

Former President Zuma faces 16 counts of fraud, graft and racketeering over the purchase of fighter jets, patrol boats and equipment while he was vice president in the late 1990s. Former Thabo Mbeki has long dismissed the arms deal case as something that never existed, and was truly never proven with evidence in court.

Experts also believe that there’s an invisible hand behind former President Zuma’s legal battle. During his tenure in office as a head of state- he leaned more towards China and Russia as his allies than he did with the west. It was during his tenure that South Africa joined BRICS. And with the way the west operates- revenge is a dish best served when cold. .
